Barcelona to face Real Madrid’s conquerors Albacete in Copa del Rey quarter-finals

Albacete will face holders Barcelona in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals after eliminating Real Madrid 3-2 in the last 16.

The draw took place on Monday. According to L'Équipe, the second-tier side will stage the tie at Carlos Belmonte Stadium.

The clubs have not met since May 2005, when Barcelona won 2-0 at Camp Nou, with Lionel Messi scoring his first senior goal.

Betis will face Atlético Madrid in the standout tie of the round. Athletic Bilbao were drawn to play Valencia at Mestalla.

Real Sociedad, who beat Barcelona 2-1 on Sunday, will travel to Alavés. The quarter-finals are scheduled for three, four and five February.
