For all the media speculation and leaks about any potential transfer in world football, it is exceedingly rare for a player to openly come out and speak towards an exit.
After all, making such a move highly jeopardises their relationship in the dressing room and with the fans – something no player can risk until he is sure he is completing a departure.
A player coming out and making a public admission of that sort, thus, serves as a direct announcement to the world that he is pushing for a departure at any cost.
Atletico Madrid superstar and Barcelona target Julian Alvarez doing so after Argentina’s game last night does the exact same thing.
It is a no-brainer that Alvarez coming out and openly asking for a transfer has Barcelona’s doing written all over it.
After all, it was largely considered the only way the deal was going to be possible given Los Rojiblancos’ firm stance against selling to the Catalans.

Jota Jordi via Jijantes FC now reveals that the Blaugrana are very grateful to Alvarez for his bold statement last night – one which completely changes the complexion of his situation this summer.
The club, thus, have decided that they will not leave the player high and dry at any cost after the massive step he has taken. They will make a big effort to sign him as well, although a lot depends on the stance Atletico Madrid adopt.
Barcelona have already made a bid of €100 million for Alvarez this summer, and the Colchoneros rejected the proposal without a second thought, labelling the player as untransferable.

Now that Atletico Madrid and the entire world know that the player does not wish to continue in the Spanish capital, there is hope that Diego Simeone’s side will open up for negotiations.
Barcelona are expected to make a new offer in the coming days, one that will hover around the €130 million mark. There is, however, understandable hesitation to go higher.
As matters stand, Atletico Madrid are demanding that the Argentine star’s complete release clause be paid if he is to leave.
Yet, they are now under pressure to sell, especially with the player rejecting proposals from PSG and Arsenal, and it remains to be seen how the situation evolves.
