The future of Robert Lewandowski at FC Barcelona has become a major topic of speculation, given that his contract expires at the end of the season.
The veteran striker is reportedly open to extending his stay at the club for one more year. But the Blaugrana have appeared non-committal on the matter and are not ready to rush into any decisions, despite a recent meeting between his agent and Joan Laporta.
Amidst the ongoing speculation, it has now emerged that MLS outfit Inter Miami might be considering a swoop for Lewandowski next year.
Indeed, according to former footballer Marek Jozwiak on Moca Futbolu, the MLS club where former Barcelona captain Lionel Messi plays might be keen on Lewandowski and may already be searching for a residence for the Pole.
“I received a message from someone who knows the file very well, indicating that Inter Miami is already looking for housing for Robert Lewandowski,” Jozwiak claimed.
Inter Miami have benefited greatly from their strategy of recruiting experienced European players, such as Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, and Lewandowski would fit well into that approach.
The 37-year-old Poland captain, however, remains keen on staying at Barcelona and would even be willing to take a pay cut in order to continue.
But in case the Blaugrana decide against a renewal offer, it will be interesting to see if Lewandowski decides to move to the MLS and join forces with Messi in Miami.
