FC Barcelona are not only working to improve the first team, but also to strengthen their youth system with promising players to complete their development at La Masia.

As recently reported, the Blaugrana are working to sign Hamza Abdelkarim, a 17-year-old striker from Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

On top of that, Barça have also held talks to sign Jesse Bisiwu, a teenage wonderkid from Belgian outfit Club Brugge.

Now, it appears that another exciting young talent, this time from England, has caught the attention of the La Liga champions.

Barcelona interested in Ajay Tavares

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are making moves for Ajay Tavares, an English winger from Norwich City’s youth team, who will turn 16 on 28 December.

A powerful left winger who can also play as a centre-forward, Tavares possesses an European passport, which would allow him to leave the United Kingdom before the age of 18.

Despite his age, Tavares is physically very strong and is competing in the U18 Premier League for Norwich’s youth team with players a couple of years older than him.

So far this term, the young attacker has made six league appearances, along with one more in the FA Youth Cup.

Having represented England at the U15 and U16 stages, Tavares has recently broken into the Three Lions’ U17 setup this year and is held in high regard in the national youth team ranks.

Given his promise and potential, several top clubs from within England and across Europe have shown an interest in Tavares.

However, Barcelona have acted swiftly to make their move and are now well-positioned to sign the 15-year-old attacking prodigy despite the competition.
