Barcelona willing to raise Julian Alvarez offer to €130 million but Atletico remain unmoved – report | OneFootball

It is no secret that FC Barcelona see a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez as their topmost priority for the summer.

An offer of around €100 million, including add-ons, has already been tabled and further rejected by the Spanish capital club.

Despite the Rojiblancos’ stance, Barça insist that their offer remains on the table, although for a limited time only.

Open to improving offer

Now, according to journalist Santi Ovalle on Cadena SER, Barcelona intend to continue pursuing the Argentine forward and are open to increase their offer for him contrary to reports.

The Catalans’ current offer of €100 million is said to be payable in six instalments, and is all set to expire at the end of the month.

In order to unlock the situation, the reigning La Liga champions are prepared to improve their offer to around €130 million, likely through add-ons, while keeping the fixed part of the fee constant.

Laporta taking charge

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has taken direct control of negotiations with Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin after sporting director Mateu Alemany did not respond to the formal proposal submitted by Deco.

According to the report, the Atletico sporting director has no working relationship with his Barcelona counterpart, and Deco’s offer was put aside without being referred to senior decision-makers.

As such, Laporta has taken matters into his own hands as Barcelona hope to open negotiations at executive level.

Atletico remain firm

However, sources at Atletico Madrid continue to insist that they are unwilling to negotiate Alvarez’s sale to either Barcelona.

The Rojiblancos, throughout the summer, have maintained the same stance, despite the player declaring in public that he wished to leave. In fact, Alvarez has been asked to report for pre-season training on August 10 by Diego Simeone & co.

Barcelona, for their part, are hoping for another public gesture from the South American which could increase the pressure on Atleti.

At the same time, the Catalans are keeping an eye on the market for alternatives, even though they believe there are very few alternatives that fit the profile Hansi Flick is looking for.
