One of the most highly-regarded young members of the academy setup at La Liga giants Barcelona is giving serious consideration to a summer departure from the club.
That’s according to Ferran Martínez of Mundo Deportivo, who points towards Guille Fernández as the player in question.
Guille, for those not familiar with his name, is a 16-year-old midfielder, capable of lining out in either an orthodox role in the middle of the park, or a more attack-minded berth.
The Spaniard has long been hailed for his technical gifts, as well as his impressive eye for goal.
Guille was called up to first-team training by Hansi Flick on a number of occasions earlier in the campaign, reiterating the widespread trust in the youngster’s talents.
Safe to say, then, that it will come as a source of concern for all associated with Barcelona to learn of the latest on Guille’s plans for his future.
As per a report from MD:
‘Although his intention is to stay at Barça, Guille Fernández knows there’s an overbooking of players in his position in the first team.’
Whilst Guille would ideally like to stay put in Catalunya’s capital, he could therefore be tempted into an exit, with the promise of senior football.
And as much, it is claimed, would be on offer at at least some of the many clubs interested in his signature.
Amongst the sides keeping a close eye on Guille’s situation moving forward are Porto, Bayern Munich, and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
