Barcelona youngster could debut against Valencia after La Liga approves registration | OneFootball

In a major development, SPORT reports that Barcelona have completed the registration process for Roony Bardghji.

It means that Hansi Flick will be able to call on the teenage winger for the La Liga match against Valencia on Sunday, 14 September.

The club has received La Liga’s approval for his registration, and Bardghji will play with the number 28 shirt while remaining officially listed as a B team player.

Signed from Copenhagen in a deal worth a little over €2 million, the 19-year-old impressed during the pre-season tour, but Fair Play issues meant that his registration was not completed, leading to him missing the first three games of the season.

Process complete

While his registration as a reserve-team player was secured, Barcelona intended to register Bardghji with the first team via a guarantee before the Valencia game.

For a player registered with the reserve side to feature with the first team, the league requires validation through a special visa process, which depends on financial fair play compliance.

Javier Gomez, La Liga’s Corporate General Director, explained: “If a player is in a club’s youth team or reserves and the club wants him to play in the first team, they must request a stamp, a visa. To issue it, we refer to a 2022 circular.

“This cannot be a loophole to bypass Fair Play. Is this player new? Yes. How much does he earn? Does he earn like the players in the reserves? Yes? Then no problem.

“Does he earn closer to what you have in the first team? If so, for me to grant the visa, I will compute it as part of the first team. If you want us to validate it, you must create first-team fair play. It can also be done later.”

This point is crucial: while Bardghji is registered with the B team, Barcelona could request the visa at any time during the season, once they generate enough fair play margin, meaning registration is not limited to the transfer window.

Barcelona have now received approval by offering a financial guarantee before the Valencia match. Flick will have an additional attacking option available from this weekend.
