Barcelona’s €8.5 million imminent new signing could join during England pre-season camp | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Jesse Bisiwu, with the deal for the Belgian winger now virtually complete.

As already reported, the agreement is worth €8.5 million, with Club Brugge also retaining 20% of the profit from any future sale.

Arrival might come after pre-season camp begins

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona acknowledge that Bisiwu may not be able to travel with the squad when they leave for their pre-season training camp at St George’s Park in Birmingham on Monday.

Although every major aspect of the transfer has been agreed with Club Brugge, a few remaining formalities mean the official announcement could still take several more days.

As such, the 18-year-old Belgian attacking prodigy could join the team once the pre-season camp is already underway.

If everything proceeds as expected, he could make his unofficial debut in Barcelona’s first pre-season friendly match against Birmingham City on July 31 at St Andrew’s Stadium.

Opportunities to impress

Should he complete his move in time, Bisiwu will have plenty of opportunities to showcase his talent during pre-season.

In addition to the Birmingham City match, the La Liga champions’ schedule in England includes another closed-door friendly against Preston North End on August 3.

On top of that, the Blaugrana will play in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup triangular tournament against Udinese and Nottingham Forest on August 8.

Barcelona will close off the pre-season with the Joan Gamper Trophy against Egyptian champions Al Ahly on August 19.

In addition, Flick has requested the club to arrange another friendly encounter before the Gamper Trophy match, all of which could present Bisiwu with a chance to make an impression.

First-team dynamics, Barça Atletic registration

Despite Barcelona making a significant investment in the young winger, the club is not planning a major public presentation.

Bisiwu will initially be registered with Barça Atletic, while training regularly alongside Hansi Flick’s first-team squad.

The expectation is that he will earn opportunities through his performances during training and pre-season as Barcelona carefully manage his transition into senior football.
