Barcelona’s Champions league journey will begin at St James Park against Newcastle on Thursday. But doubts remain about where the club will face Paris Saint Germain in the 2nd group match.

Camp Nou Opening Delayed Again

According to SPORT, the return to Camp Nou's been postponed once more. Despite repeated assurances, construction works are not yet at stage that meets UEFA’s strict requirements.

Montjuic the Safe Option

Barca will play PSG at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic (unless last minute miracle occurs) .. UEFA demands minimum capacity, designated fan zones & reinforced safety procedures (standards the partially completed Camp Nou cannot yet provide).

Limited Progress So Far

Barcelona received certification for the first phase of renovations allowing just 27000 fans but the paperwork hasn't been delivered to authorities.

The club's therefore kept postponing announcements as seen in recent La liga matches.

Current Situation

This week, the board confirmed that 14 September league game against Getafe will also be played at Johan Cruyff Stadium reinforcing that the Camp Nou reopening remains some way off.
