The UEFA Champions League is on break, and PSG will resume their campaign with their matches against Sporting Lisbon and Newcastle United. Heading into these two final matchdays, the capital club are in an automatic qualifying spot for the Round of 16.

PSG have recorded four wins, one draw, and one loss for a total of 13 points. If Luis Enrique and his team win out, then they’ll avoid the playoff round to get into the final 16 teams for the knockout stage.

Moreover, the capital club are looking to repeat as champions, and a direct rival sees them as one of the teams that they need to defeat.

In an interview with Esquire, Pedri, the star midfielder for FC Barcelona, discussed his short-term goals. That gave him the chance to speak about the Champions League and the teams he sees as favorites.

“It will not be easy, but I hope to repeat last year’s domestic treble and win the Champions League. Who are the favorites? PSG first and foremost, then Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid,” Pedri said (h/t Foot01).

After the sixth matchday of the Champions League league phase this season, Paris Saint-Germain still sit third in Opta’s supercomputer rankings of title favorites at 14 percent.

Ahead of the defending champion are Arsenal at 22 percent, still viewed as the clear standout favorite, and Bayern Munich at 14 percent. FC Barcelona, Pedri’s club, are listed as the fifth favorite at seven percent.
