After a stellar 2024/25 campaign that saw them secure the domestic treble, Barcelona players had some well-deserved rest and vacation days over the past few weeks.

But that break is officially over, and it is now time for Barcelona to reunite once again as they kickstart their preparations for the new season.

Indeed, the Barcelona team officially return to duty this Sunday, reporting to the Ciutat Esportiva for medical and physical examinations ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Barcelona geared up for new season

A recent report from MARCA has laid out all the key details of Barcelona’s pre-season preparations.

Although several players had already returned early to begin individual workouts, this weekend marks the official start of pre-season preparations for all squad members.

With no major international tournaments this summer, there are no absentees from the first-team setup, allowing new head coach Hansi Flick to begin work with a full squad from day one.

Training kicks off on Monday with a single evening session at 6:00 PM, which will be followed by a series of double training sessions during the early stages of pre-season.

The focus will initially be on physical conditioning, but Flick is expected to ramp up tactical drills quickly, now that he has the entire group at his disposal.

One of the standout names during these early sessions will be Juan Garcia, the club’s new goalkeeper signing from Espanyol.

The young Spaniard has already been working at the training complex and will serve as the club’s number one goalkeeper this season, ahead of Wojciech Szczesny and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has been recently linked with a move to Manchester City.

As expected, Flick will also call up several Barça Atletic players to train with the first team, giving him a chance to assess potential reinforcements from the club’s youth ranks ahead of the busy season.
