According to Kicker.de, Bayern Munich chiefs are open to keeping Neuer as first-choice goalkeeper for another season.
The veteran is said to be basing his decision solely on his physical condition at the end of the campaign.
He has ruled out testing himself in another league abroad, unlike Thomas Müller’s move to Vancouver.
At 39, he reportedly wants to end his career with the German record champions, either after this season or later.
A one-year extension running to 2027 would require Urbig to receive even more playing time next season to aid his development.
If the 2014 World Cup winner does not extend, Bayern would at least consider exploring the goalkeeper market.
Loanees Daniel Peretz and Alexander Nübel, currently at Southampton FC and VfB Stuttgart respectively, are not in the club’s plans, with permanent solutions being sought in the summer when their loans end.
