Bayern Munich said Manuel Neuer has a calf muscle problem and must take it easy for now.

The issue was detected during medical examinations by the club’s medical department on Sunday, 17 May.

The captain was substituted in the 60th minute of Saturday’s 5-1 Bundesliga home win over 1.FC Köln because of the injury.

The 40-year-old stayed on for the Bavarians’ title celebrations after the match, but the setback is a concern.

Bayern are six days from a DFB-Pokal final against VfB Stuttgart, with a 20:00 CET kick-off, and it is unclear whether Neuer will be fit.

Despite international retirement, he was included in Julian Nagelsmann’s provisional 55-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, and there has been growing speculation he could yet travel to the USA, Canada and Mexico.
