Newcastle United have informed Arsenal and other suitors that it would take €90 million to sign Anthony Gordon this summer, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Emirates Stadium club are known admirers of the England international and Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his attack heading into next season.

Gordon is a wanted man with his Newcastle future in doubt, and Bayern Munich already in talks over a deal, while Liverpool and Barcelona are also interested in his services.

The attacker has featured in recruitment planning meetings at Arsenal but it remains to be seen whether a concrete move is on the cards.

The Bundesliga club are unwilling to pay up to €90m for the Newcastle star and Arsenal and others are also unlikely to be keen on meeting the Magpies’ demands.

However, it is believed around €75m/€85m could be enough to get an initial deal done, while add-ons will be included.

Gordon is expected to leave the St. James’ Park club for a side where regular Champions League football is guaranteed.

The ‘really strong’ 25-year-old also wants to be competing for major silverware every season, and Arsenal will be offering him that opportunity.

More suitors will likely emerge for him when the summer transfer window opens but Newcastle may need to lower their asking price to have a chance of getting him sold.

Gordon is under contract until 2030 but he could be leaving this summer given that those at the club are convinced he wants out.

The Magpies manager Eddie Howe has the backing of the club and will remain in charge beyond this season, but major squad changes could be on the cards.

Gordon is not the only player likely to leave at the end of this season, with the likes of Sandro Tonali and Tino Livramento also linked with exits, while either Nick Woltemade or Yoane Wissa could be sold if Newcastle look to sign another number 9.
