Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is aware of the magnitude of the task awaiting his side against Inter Milan.

Speaking to Corriere della Sera via FCInter1908, Rummenigge admitted the quarter-final draw has not been kind to Bayern.

Vincent Kompany’s side eased past fellow Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 on aggregate in the last-16.

Meanwhile, Inter put Feyenoord to the sword in their Round-of-16 tie, emerging 4-1 victors.

Therefore, the two European titans will trade tackles in a mouth-watering quarter-final clash in April.

However, Bayern and Inter met twice in the 2022/23 Champions League group phase.

It didn’t go well for the reigning Scudetto holders as the Bavarians won both matches via an identical 2-0 scoreline.

Yet, Rummenigge isn’t happy with the draw, knowing Inter have improved a lot since their last meeting.

Bayern Munich Chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge Delivers Verdict on UCL Quarter-Final Vs Inter Milan

“These are my two favorite teams, and I’m not very happy about this quarterfinal,” he stated.

“I don’t like the idea that one of them has to go out – I would have preferred to face Inter in the final.

“The pressure is on both of them, and Inter has a strong desire to win.

“I was in Istanbul and saw them against City, a club with even higher revenue than Bayern.

“But at certain moments, that doesn’t matter much.”

Inter Milan will face Atalanta tomorrow, and Rummenigge insists these high-profile fixtures can only help the Nerazzurri.

“Being involved on all fronts isn’t a disadvantage; in fact, it helps keep the pace and focus high.”

Then, he blasted Vincent Kompany for a 3-2 home loss to Bundesliga minnows Bochum.

“When Guardiola was here, we had a 20-point lead in the league and still went out in the semifinals against Real Madrid.

“Bayern just lost at home to Bochum, and that shouldn’t happen.”
