Bayern Munich are considering cutting Mathys Tel's loan deal at Tottenham Hotspur short so that he can play for the Bavarian giants in this summer's Club World Cup, reports in Germany state.

The French forward joined Spurs after much toing and froing on deadline day of the winter window. Tel reportedly rejected a permanent transfer in a face-to-face meeting with club chairman Daniel Levy before eventually moving to north London on a loan deal which includes an option to buy.

Ange Postecoglou was confident that his February recruit would be around for the long haul. "Tel will be a Tottenham player," the Australian coach insisted shortly after his arrival. "I think he will show everyone he will be a Tottenham player in the next six months. I didn't bring him here for six months."

However, Tel's Tottenham career could be concluded after just five months.

In preparation for the inaugural edition of the expanded Club World Cup which begins in mid-June, German publication Kicker claim Bayern are giving serious consideration to recalling all their loan players before the tournament begins.

Bayern's group-stage campaign starts against New Zealand outfit Auckland City on 15 June, with Vincent Kompany's side also scheduled to face Argentina's River Plate and Portuguese giants Benfica. These opening fixtures and Bayern's last-16 tie (should they make it to the knockout stages) will all take place before 30 June, which is the date that Tel's short-term stay at Tottenham officially expires.

FIFA have opened up an extra transfer window to run between Sunday 1 June and Tuesday 10 June so that clubs competing in their newfangled tournament can do some business before the Club World Cup gets underway.

With this new window, Bayern can theoretically terminate Tel's loan spell at Tottenham without the need for any financial compensation - unless there is a specific stipulation in the agreement struck between the two clubs.
