Nico Williams has emerged as the hottest topic of the summer as FC Barcelona are working to sign him while Athletic Club are trying to block his departure.
An agreement over personal terms has been reached between the Spanish international and the La Liga champions, though, and the expectation is that his €62 million release clause will be paid next week.
Amidst all this, Bayern Munich continue to monitor the situation closely as they are also strongly interested in Nico.
Indeed, the Bundesliga champions have made multiple approaches to the 22-year-old winger who has rebuffed them and informed them of his intention to join Barça.
Despite this, journalist Christian Falk on The Daily Briefing claims that Bayern Munich made enquiries with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick to understand the Blaugrana’s seriousness about their pursuit of Nico.

Flick was the manager of the Bavarian giants and enjoyed great success with the club. As such, the German tactician was approached by his former employers to gauge the situation surrounding Nico.
The feedback they received was clear – Barça are sure to sign the UEFA Euro 2024 this summer.
Despite having some issues with the Financial Fair Play, the Blaugrana are convinced that they will have no problems in registering Nico in La Liga.
The player has already agreed to the move and Barça are ready to activate his release clause soon, having set themselves a deadline of July 6 to finalise the process.
So, any lingering hopes that Bayern Munich might have had about signing Nico are sure to have faded now.
