After managing to beat Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate over two legs in the Round of 16, Real Madrid made it through to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.
Staring at them in the next round is another huge challenge as they will be facing reigning German champions Bayern Munich.
The first leg will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu on 7 April, followed by the return leg at the Allianz Arena a week later on 15 April.
Following a dominant performance over Union Berlin earlier today, Bayern Munich mainstay Joshua Kimmich expressed his excitement and anticipation about facing Real Madrid next month in the Champions League.
The two teams have crossed paths on many occasions in the past in Europe, with Los Blancos coming out on top more often than not. And Kimmich & co. are eager to address that in the upcoming quarterfinals.

“The anticipation is huge. We’ve played against Real quite a few times since I joined – and we’ve always been knocked out,” said Kimmich, as quoted by Kerry Hau of Sky Germany.
“We weren’t often the worse team, we were often just unlucky. At some point, it’s about time… We’re in good spirits and looking forward to it,” he added.
Another Bayern Munich player, teenage gem Lennart Karl, spoke about how much he was looking forward to playing against Real Madrid.
The youngster had already made waves with his comments about how he hoped to join Los Blancos in the future. And now, ahead of the faceoff in the Champions League, he said:
“Very excited, of course. It’s a cool stadium. I’m really looking forward to playing against them.”
Bayern Munich made it to the quarterfinals after brutally thrashing Atalanta in the Round of 16 and will pose a huge challenge for Alvaro Arbeloa’s Real Madrid.
