As reported by Kicker, Bayern Munich are monitoring Bayer Leverkusen full-back Alejandro Grimaldo ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
It’s believed that the Spanish international could be an ideal replacement for Raphaël Guerreiro, who is free to leave next summer when his contract ends. Whilst the Portuguese has put in solid performances for Bayern, he’s gradually falling lower in the pecking order under Vincent Kompany.
Tom Bischof (20) was recently assigned the full-back role whilst Alphonso Davies’ return for Bayern draws closer.
With this in mind, Grimaldo is seen as the ideal candidate for the additional full-back role that would become vacant following Guerreiro’s departure. Bayern are currently monitoring the 30-year-old, who is contracted at Leverkusen until 2027. However, an extension beyond that is unlikely.
One potential sticking point for Bayern is Grimaldo’s recent comments about his desire to eventually hang up his boots when playing in his homeland.
