Bayern Munich are not planning to move for Chelsea target Jeremy Jacquet this month but will consider an approach in the summer, if the Rennes defender is still available.

The German champions have been linked with rivalling Chelsea for Jacquet this month, while Liverpool also hold an interest in the centre-back.

Chelsea have been in negotiations with Rennes but have so far been willing to meet an asking price in the region of £55m. Despite that, the West Londoners remain hopeful of agreeing a deal before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Chelsea’s hopes have been boosted by Bayern’s stance. There are no plans from Vincent Kompany’s team to pursue Jacquet in the coming days, nor have there been talks between the Bundesliga side and the player’s representatives.

Sky Germany are reporting that Bayern are currently focused on agreeing a contract extension with Dayot Upamecano, whose deal expires in the summer.

The club will assess their centre-back options in the summer, following the outcome of those talks. Bayern also have Jonathan Tah, Kim Min-jae and Hiroki Ito as senior centre-back options.
