Alphonso Davies will be staying put at Bayern Munich this summer, reports Christian Falk.

That’s despite well-documented Premier League interest in the left-back, with Manchester United understood to have been keen.

The Bundesliga giants have recently extended the Canadian’s contract, which is now set to expire in the summer of 2030.

Bad news for Manchester United: Alphonso Davies is staying

Manchester United will have to consider alternative targets at left-back, it seems.

Both Bayern and Davies are agreed: the 25-year-old will continue at the Allianz Arena going into the 2026/27 season.

“It is not true that Alphonso Davies wants to secure a transfer away from Bayern Munich this summer,” Falk exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.

“Of course, FC Bayern know that the Canadian has been struggling with injuries this term. So, there was a viewpoint that if the club were to receive a big offer for the left-back, they would have seriously discussed it. But I think recent matches have shown just how much Bayern need Davies.

“I had talks today about the 25-year-old’s situation, and it’s not the case that the club feels he’s not the best option at left-back anymore.

“The key concern is his fitness levels, and you can see Bayern would benefit from Alphonso Davies being available on a more consistent basis. That much was certainly clear while he was sidelined in the treatment room.”

There are understandable concerns over the defender’s injury record of late. After all, the Canada international has missed 15 games in all competitions this term. Although that pales in comparison to last term.

Champions League exit proves Davies’ importance

Vincent Kompany, in particular, remains a big fan of Davies and the pace the fullback brings to the left flank.

Christian Falk went on to add: “I think Vincent Kompany will do everything to keep this player and get him fit again. If they want to win the Champions League – they need Alphonso Davies. So, I would say there’s no chance at the moment for an interested party to sign him.”

Pace that was, quite evidently, in sharp demand in Die Roten’s Champions League clash with PSG, with the hosts struggling to break down a resolute PSG defence.

In the end, it was the Canadian who would make the sharpest impact for the hosts, supplying the assist for Harry Kane’s equaliser in extra time.

Sadly, too late to hand Bayern a chance of late redemption.
