Bayern Munich have already made clear their wish to sign Nicolas Jackson permanently, even if the formal obligation within his loan agreement is not triggered, according to TBR Football. The Senegalese striker arrived in Bavaria in the summer for a loan fee exceeding £14 million, a figure that stands among the most expensive in history.

The agreement contained an option that would activate a £56 million permanent transfer should Jackson reach 40 starts this season. With the Africa Cup of Nations looming and rotation inevitable, that milestone is unlikely to be met. Yet Bayern’s stance is firm. As Graeme Bailey explained, “Bayern Munich have been delighted with Nicolas Jackson since arriving, indeed, they have been hugely impressed by him following their first meeting with him.”
Bailey further reported that Jackson’s determination to join Bayern, even at personal financial sacrifice, has not gone unnoticed. “His commitment to come, which saw the player and agents sacrificing money to make the deal happen, to his insistence that the team he wanted to join was Bayern.”

This has created a bond between player and club that extends beyond contractual obligations. Jackson’s first goal for Bayern, scored during a 5-1 victory over Pafos in the Champions League, was symbolic of a forward beginning to find rhythm. His partnership with Harry Kane also provides tactical depth, countering doubts about whether the two strikers could co-exist.
For Chelsea, Jackson’s success abroad coincides with long-term planning at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are preparing for Emanuel Emegha to join from Strasbourg in 2026, while Marc Guiu’s recall from Sunderland ensures Enzo Maresca has multiple options in attack. Jackson’s departure, should Bayern formalise their intention, would no longer represent a crisis but rather the conclusion of a calculated reshaping of their squad.

Bayern’s president Uli Hoeneß had initially suggested Jackson would return to Chelsea at the end of his loan. Yet, as TBR Football highlighted, internal sentiment has shifted. All parties now expect Bayern to negotiate with Chelsea, with Bailey adding, “I am told it would take a major change of circumstance for Jackson not to join Bayern permanently.”
For Jackson, whose Chelsea chapter looked prematurely closed, this represents a revival. For Bayern, it is a chance to secure a forward whose energy, movement and commitment appear ideally suited to the Bundesliga.
Jackson’s loan exit was originally viewed as a gamble, but now it appears to be evolving into a mutually beneficial story. Bayern get a player hungry to prove himself at the highest level, and Chelsea clear space in a squad that is being reshaped with precision.
Fans will acknowledge that Jackson showed flashes of ability in the Premier League but lacked the consistency demanded at Stamford Bridge. His departure, while perhaps premature at the time, has opened opportunities for Chelsea to invest in other forwards. With Emegha already lined up for 2026 and Guiu recalled, there is a sense that the club is building a sustainable attacking core for the future.
The reality is that Chelsea’s model relies on fluidity and long-term squad planning. If Bayern are willing to pay and Jackson flourishes in Germany, Chelsea supporters will see it as vindication of their approach rather than a failure. Expectations now turn to how Maresca integrates the forward line and whether those who remain can provide the cutting edge the team has lacked.
For many fans, Jackson thriving abroad will be seen with mixed feelings, pride in his growth but a firm belief that Chelsea’s path forward remains intact without him.
