This has been a phenomenal campaign from Vincent Kompany’s side, who are looking unbeatable at the moment, and have picked a new gear after the winter break.

The German champions have a record of 16 wins and two draws from 18 league matches so far, leaving them top of the table with 11 points ahead of Borussia Dortmund.

They are heading into this game on the back of a 2-0 win against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League and have qualified for the knockout rounds.

Since their 2-2 draw against Mainz, Bayern have won four games in a row in the Bundesliga, scoring 20 goals.

The Bavarian giants have already scored 71 goals this season and are on course to break their Bundesliga goalscoring record (101) set back in 1971-72.

Augsburg have failed to win in their last five games and have not kept a clean sheet in their last three, as their struggles continue.

The visitors have picked up only one win away from home, and suffered six losses, and it will take a superlative performance to beat Bayern at their home turf.

Fuggerstadter have failed to keep a clean sheet against Bayern in their last seven games, but they have scored against their opponent in six of their last seven meetings.

After losing 4-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach, Augsburg have drawn their last two games, including a 2-2 draw against Freiburg in the last match.

In the corresponding fixture between the two sides back in August, Bayern won 3-2 away.

Bayern Munich vs Augsburg: Team news

Max Eberl confirmed in midweek that Dayot Upamecano will be unable to take part this weekend due to illness, which means Kim Min-jae is set to start alongside Jonathan Tah.

Josip Stanisic and Konrad Laimer are still out injured, which means Kompany will be forced to use either Tom Bischof or Raphael Guerreiro at right-back.

Noah Banks is suspended for Augsburg, while Kristijan Jakic, Christian Matsima and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw are out injured.

Christian Falk prediction: Bayern Munich 4-0 Augsburg

Augsburg last won in Munich back in 2015; it’s over 11 years now. This won’t happen again.

Also, the fact that the new interim manager, Manuel Baum, is not doing very well at the moment. In fact, the results have not improved at all.
