'We back ourselves to beat anyone' - Kane on Chelsea clash at the Allianz

Chelsea were left kicking themselves as Bayern Munich held firm to deal the world champions a defeat on their Champions League return.

Bayern took the lead in bizarre circumstances, catching the Blues out from a quick drop ball after the referee had blocked the Bavarians' short free-kick. Michael Olise danced into the box before delivering into the danger area, where Trevoh Chalobah knocked into his own net.

The hosts then doubled their lead from a Harry Kane penalty, but were quickly pegged back by a wonderful Chelsea counter, beautifully finished by Cole Palmer on the half-volley.

Chelsea searched for an equaliser after the break but their downfall was self-inflicted, with Kane gobbling up a Gusto error before finishing typically. Bayern's two-goal advantage having been restored, the German champions managed to see out victory with ease.
