Bayern Munich’s Aleksandar Pavlovic reveals Vincent Kompany’s first words to team after 5-4 PSG goal-fest | OneFootball

Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic revealed that FCB trainer Vincent Kompany remained exceedingly proud of his team after their amazing comeback against PSG on Tuesday evening. The fact that PSG won the opening leg of the semi-final encounter 5-4 mattered little; not after the Bundesliga club overcame a 5-2 deficit that would have probably rendered the goal deficit insurmountable. 

Like his club’s chief personnel executive Max Eberl, Pavlovic found himself optimistic ahead of the return leg. Kompany – unable to work the sidelines due to yellow card suspensions – was also not permitted to check in with the team at half-time. After the match, however, Kompany made a quick trip down to the locker room before his players hit the mixed zone.

“Of course, a defeat isn’t great,” Pavlovic told reporters. “But the manner in which we came back shows how strong we are. We’ll regroup ahead of the next game. We’ll have to be more careful and secure at the back.

“We had a similar issue against Real Madrid and are used to dealing with it,” Pavlovic continued. “Matters can happen quite quickly, but that’s normal in a Champions League semi-final.

“He told us that he was proud of how we came back,” Pavlovic said of Kompany’s team talk. “He was proud of our mentality and said that we played a good game with great energy. He’s looking forward to [the return leg] in Munich.“
