Minjae Kim is still under scrutiny at FC Bayern – and two top clubs in Turkey are sensing an opportunity
As reported by Munich’s tz, both Besiktas and Galatasaray are showing concrete interest in the South Korean central defender. Both Istanbul city rivals are said to be examining a summer transfer and are apparently hoping for a realistic opportunity to sign the 29-year-old
Kim made a name for himself in top European soccer with Fenerbahce Istanbul in the 2021/22 season and was crowned the best defender in Serie A after his move to SSC Napoli. FC Bayern transferred around €45 million to the Italian champions in 2023 – at the time, the fixed transfer fee was considered a real bargain
According to transfermarkt.de, Kim’s market value is now around 25 million euros, which is also fuelling hopes of a deal in Istanbul. It is also known that sporting director Max Eberl has been considering the defender as a sales candidate since last summer, when Kim was reportedly even offered in Saudi Arabia
Nevertheless, the situation is not clear-cut: Kim feels at home in Munich, his contract runs until 2028 and coach Vincent Kompany also appreciates the defender’s qualities
Galatasaray in particular are said to be looking closely at Kim. According to reports, the club’s management have already enquired about him with Victor Osimhen and Sacha Boey. Kim played with Osimhen in Naples, both of whom were part of the Champions axis under coach Luciano Spalletti. Boey was loaned to Galatasaray by FC Bayern in the winter

Besiktas are also in the mix. Following the signing of Hyeon-gyu Oh, they are open to further Korea-related transfers. In addition to Kim, Han-beom Lee from FC Midtjylland is also said to be on the list – but the Bayern professional has priority
Scouts from both clubs are said to have watched and recommended Kim several times during the winter. Chelsea and AC Milan also have the international on their lists. However, there is no concrete breakthrough in sight so far
One thing is clear: should FC Bayern actually signal their willingness to talk in the summer, the market for Kim is likely to pick up quickly.
