Bayern Munich are monitoring TSG Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani following his outstanding start to life in the German top flight, according to Florian Plettenberg.

They want a permanent back-up to Harry Kane who can eventually replace him, and Die Rekordmeister have their sights set on Asllani.

The Kosovo international scored last weekend to take his tally to five goals and an assist in eight Bundesliga appearances this term.

He also delivered a goal and an assist in his sole DFB Pokal outing.

After leaving Union Berlin’s academy to join Hoffenheim, Asllani truly announced himself during a loan spell at Elversberg last season.

In just the club’s second-ever campaign in the Bundesliga II, the young forward tallied 18 goals and seven assists, nearly propelling Elversberg to a historic promotion.

Asllani is a formidable unit physically, but combines it with remarkable technical ability and sniper-like finishing. He has formed a terrific partnership with Andrej Kramaric.

Bayern directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are impressed by the forward’s development and profile.

They have already been informed about his release clause, which becomes valid next summer.

Asllani’s stellar form has also attracted interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are seeking a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski and have been considering the 23-year-old.

He is expected to leave Hoffenheim at the end of the season, and he has suitors keen on snapping him up, but it remains unclear where he will end up.

Bayern’s interest in Asllani leaves Nicolas Jackson’s future in limbo. The Senegalese striker joined the Bundesliga heavyweights on loan from Chelsea to back up Kane.

They inserted a heavy purchase clause in the deal, but all signs indicate they will not be keen on triggering it.

Jackson wants to stay at the German club, but Chelsea will demand big money, which might force them to turn to Asllani.
