Bayern Munich are expected to begin formal talks over a new contract for Harry Kane at the start of August, Sport Bild reports.

Discussions will start after the England captain returns from his summer holiday, with Bayern keen to secure the long-term future of a key player.

Kane is the club’s joint top earner with Jamal Musiala on around €25 million gross a year. Although Bayern often trim wages for players over 30, a cut is not anticipated here.

The 33-year-old is said to have drawn interest, but he is thought to see Bayern as ideal and has not seriously weighed a move.

The key question now centres on contract length. Bayern are prepared to offer terms running at least to 2029. Kane, meanwhile, is targeting the 2030 FIFA World Cup and aims to compete at the highest level until then.

Talks are expected to weigh two options, a deal to 2030 with a lower annual salary, or a shorter extension to 2029 that maintains a higher wage.

The outcome could shape how his final years in Munich are planned, with both parties keen to continue a successful partnership. An extension would not necessarily rule out Bayern signing another elite striker in summer 2027.

The club previously explored Benjamin Šeško before his move to Manchester United, and Vincent Kompany is keen to implement a flexible attack that can feature two strikers. Kane is also open to dropping into a deeper role later in his Bayern career.
