Brentford and Burnley produced one of the most thrilling and dramatic games of the season with Keith Andrews' side eventually emerging victorious – just.

It certainly didn't seem like this was going to be a thrilling game for the majority of the first half with the visitors 3-0 goals and cruising after just 34 minutes.

The Bees took the lead inside the first ten minutes when Mikkel Damsgaard headed in from what looked like a well-worked set-piece routine with the Burnley defence distracted by everyone else allowing the Brentford man to ghost in and head home.

Damsgaard then created the second as he placed a perfectly-weight pass down the channel for Igor Thiago to latch on to and calmly slot past Martin Dúbravka.

A classic Michael Kayode throw-in undid Burnley next as he launched a ball into the box that eventually landed for Kevin Schade to prod in from close range.

The home side showed some signs of life just before the break. Jaidon Anthony sent in a low cross that looked like it wasn't going anywhere but Kayode's attempt to intercept it only turned it into the net.

It was suddenly 2-3 shortly after the break. Hannibal Mejbri sent in a low cross from the right that no Brentford defender was able to clear, allowing Anthony to convert at the far post.

Incredibly, it was 3-3 with an hour gone. as Hannibal this time floated a fantastic pass for Zian Flemming to head in from close range.

From that point on Burnley had the ball in the net twice – once what looked like a 4-3 winner in the 79th minute only for an offside to disallow Flemming's goal for offside.

Then came the sickener for the Clarets, who had worked so hard to get back level before conceding a fourth in the 93rd-minute that turned out to be the winner when Damsgaard once again found the net.

In the eighth minute of added time Ashley Barnes thought he had made it 4-4 as Burnley threw everyone forward. However, VAR intervened and ruled out the goal due to a handball – a heartbreaking moment for Burnley fans.

That result means seventh-placed Brentford recorded their 13th win of the campaign while Burnley remained some eight points from safety.
