Jobe Bellingham on preseason training:“The first two weeks were really intense, but also really enjoyable. A lot of young players trained with us, and they all performed very well. I really liked that. The physical demands don’t scare me. On the contrary, I think the tests are a good way to challenge myself and see how I’m doing compared to last season. And training with the ball again in this jersey means the world to me. All summer long, I’ve been thinking about being back here, training again, and playing again. I can’t wait to get started.”
… his summer training plan:“To be honest, I just go to Birmingham and hit the gym there with a few people I know. I try to stick to the plan the club gives me and maybe add a little extra. I don’t think that can hurt.”
… his role as a leader:“I’ve played a lot of games in my career, and I’m not a kid anymore. Many players on the team are younger than me. I believe that experience isn’t just about playing games, but also about learning from every moment. I’ve had so many moments like that in my career, and I feel like I can now take a step forward and get even more out of that experience. And if I can help others in the process – the younger players, my teammates – and make Borussia Dortmund more successful, then everyone wins.”
… on his midfield partner Felix Nmecha:“I think we can still grow tremendously – as a duo both on and off the field. We get along well, and the more we play together, the better that chemistry gets. You can expect great things from both of us in the coming season. I feel more at home at the club, in the team, and with the staff. I’m really looking forward to the season – and I’m convinced that Felix and I will play a major role in it.” (cr)
