It’s been quite the introduction to English football for Swiss teenage talent, Iman Beney.

Fresh from a special summer where she helped host nation Switzerland reach their first-ever European Championship quarter-final, the 19-year-old has adapted seamlessly to the cut and thrust of Barclays Women’s Super League football at City.

Beney had already shown glimpses of her exciting talent in the opening weeks of the season but since the start of October, she’s taken her game to another level.

After scoring a late winner against Arsenal at the Joie Stadium, Iman was given the nod to start against Liverpool the following week and once again found the net to spark a 2-1 comeback victory at Anfield.

She then turned provider against Newcastle United, grabbing two assists on Tyneside before setting up Vivianne Miedema’s opener in our win over Everton last time out.

Beney’s proven she can handle the big occasion, and there’s perhaps none bigger this season than our WSL clash with Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 15 November (13:30 kick-off).

The 19-year-old can’t wait to sample her first Manchester derby, with the atmosphere created by our fans on such a grand stage a particularly exciting prospect.

Iman insists our supporters have a huge part to play in a tie between two of the WSL’s early pacesetters.

She said: “I’m a player that never really feels the stress, so they [big games] give me positive energy and push me on.

“For example, the fans at the Euros who cheered whenever we did something well, that encourages you to do even better, and I think it’s important that we have our fans too.

“It helps us, and it pushes us on. And I think that they’re like our 12th player.

Beney was an ever-present for Switzerland at Euro 2025 – a tournament which smashed the competition’s attendance record even before the final between England and Spain.

She’s already played in front of major crowds, but to play at the Etihad Stadium is something the 19-year-old admits will mark a special moment in career.

“I’ve only been once to this stadium, to see the men’s team, and the atmosphere was incredible.

“So, I’m delighted that it’ll be us on the pitch and that the fans will be there for us, I’m excited for the derby.”
