Iman Beney has hailed City’s character after the Blues fought from a goal down to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield.

After the hosts took the lead shortly after half-time, the Switzerland international equalised with a fizzing effort into the roof of the net before Aoba Fujino struck a late, euphoric winner.

It’s the second time in succession Andrée Jeglertz’s side have scored in the closing stages of a Barclays Women’s Super League triumph after sealing a dramatic 3-2 win over Arsenal in our outing before the trip to Merseyside.

Beney netted the third against the Gunners and made it two in two by finding the leveller in our victory over Gareth Taylor’s side when latching onto Bunny Shaw’s saved shot to slam home.

And the 19-year-old says she was delighted to score her second WSL goal of the season in what was a crucial win.

"My only thought was to shoot high because the goalkeeper was down low, so I wanted to shoot strongly and it came good also,” she explained.

"It's really enjoyable for me and [also] to get more and more minutes, but I think it's a [great] job from the whole team because we keep pushing and we never give up so we deserved this win.

“I think it was a difficult game and a difficult start for us because Liverpool is a really good team.

“It was difficult for us but after half-time we came back and all the whole team kept pushing so I think it was a deserved win and an important win too.”

The outing at Anfield was Beney’s sixth for City since her summer switch from BSC Young Boys Frauen.

Throughout her time at the Club so far, her precious versatility has been utilised by Jeglertz which has seen her play on the right side of midfield and as an inside forward accompanying the striker.

Although the Switzerland international explained she’s still adapting to the Swede's instructions, she’s relishing the minutes on the field.

She added: "I've played different positions at City and sometimes it's difficult to find the right position, but I enjoy the minutes and I appreciate my playing time."
