Benfica have lodged a hierarchical appeal against Amar Dedic’s two-match suspension, hoping to have him available to face Vitória de Guimarães.

A decision is due within 10 days, which could bring news on Saturday, hours before kick-off.

A Bola reports that Benfica say the punishment was issued by a single member of the Disciplinary Board, that they want a full-board review, and that there is no right to a witness hearing, though documents and comparative cases can be submitted.

Dedic received the suspension for violent conduct in Arouca.

For now he remains unavailable due to the ban, and Alexander Bah is likely to be the solution if the suspension stands.

This season Dedic, valued at 15 million euros, has played 37 competitive games for Benfica, 18 in the Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,097 minutes he has one goal and three assists.
