Benfica condemned the officiating after Sporting beat Santa Clara 4-2 at Alvalade, with a disallowed Gonçalo Paciência strike prompting the message "Já não há vergonha" on X.

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica shared footage of the incident and criticised the ruling that chalked off Paciência’s effort, which would have been the visitors’ third. It came as the league resumed after the international break, and Porto also voiced displeasure at the decision.

In his flash interview, Paciência said scoring three at Alvalade and leaving with no points was hard, adding that everyone had seen the incidents, though he did not want to amplify the refereeing debate. The Azores club are coached by Petit.

The dispute followed two earlier controversies in this fixture this season. In the first league meeting, a late corner that should not have been awarded preceded Sporting’s 2-1 win.

Later in the Taça de Portugal, VAR awarded Sporting a penalty after 12 minutes of review, allowing them to equalise and then progress.
