Benfica ‘in talks to sign’ Yves Bissouma | OneFootball

According to Maisfutebol, Benfica have made an initial approach for Yves Bissouma and talks with the 29-year-old Mali international are ongoing as Marco Silva looks to reinforce his midfield for 2026/27.

Bissouma is a free agent after his Tottenham contract expired at the end of last season, and he did not renew with the London club.

He shared the Spurs dressing room with João Palhinha in 2025/26 before both departed. With Benfica pushing for Palhinha, Bissouma is increasingly seen as cover if that deal stalls.

The former Lille midfielder spent much of his career in England with Brighton and Tottenham, building significant Premier League experience.

Marco Silva believes Palhinha offers the right blend of experience, balance and intensity in midfield, but competition from other clubs and complex negotiations have prompted Benfica to prepare credible fallbacks.
