Benfica players set the tone after hard-fought win over Alverca | OneFootball

Benfica beat Alverca 2-1 at Estádio da Luz on Sunday, 8 February. According to Glorioso 1904, several players then shared encouraging messages on social media.

The hosts had to dig in until the end in a gripping contest. Andreas Schjelderup and Anísio Cabral proved decisive for the home side.

Starters Sidny Cabral and Anatoliy Trubin acknowledged it was a demanding night, with Cabral describing it as a tough fight on Instagram. The former Estrela da Amadora player also felt the victory was well deserved.

Trubin marked the return to rhythm after the 0-0 draw at Tondela, noting the team were back on track.

The result strengthened Benfica’s position in the Liga Portugal Betclic. After 21 rounds they sit third on 49 points, closer to leaders Porto on 56 after Monday’s 1-1 draw with Sporting, who are on 52, at the Dragão.

Benfica visit Santa Clara on Friday, 13 February at 18:30 at Estádio São Miguel, in round 22 of the league.
