According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica are close to signing Brazilian goalkeeper Matheus from Joinville, moving ahead of Sporting in a high profile futsal deal.

Benfica have tabled a bid far above Sporting’s, and his arrival at Luz is said to be secured.

The 27-year-old would strengthen Cassiano Klein’s squad and add competition for Léo Gugiel. Nicolas Souza of Jaraguá had also been considered.

As Benfica close on the Brazilian, Sporting are already working on an alternative. Nuno Dias has turned his attention to Oleksandr Sukhov of Kiev, a Ukraine international seen as a leading option for the green and white.

Matheus Assunção has played for Grêmio Pague Menos, São José Futsal and Cascavel Futsal, and has been with Joinville since 2024. In 2026 he has scored four goals in 19 matches.
