According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica remain confident of renewing António Silva’s contract and do not view AC Milan’s interest as a threat. At this stage, there are no concrete developments between the Italians and the 22-year-old.
Italian reports had suggested Milan were close to a deal worth 20 million euros plus five million in add-ons for the centre-back, with Jorge Mendes steering talks. Those claims also linked the move to conversations over Gonçalo Ramos as part of a combined operation.
However, A Bola reports the picture is different, with Milan not prioritising the Benfica defender and unwilling to proceed at those figures, citing Ruben Amorim’s other squad needs.
Reports had further claimed a five-year agreement worth around three million euros a year, but this has not been corroborated and there has been no concrete progress between player and club.
Benfica’s aim is unchanged, to extend terms with one of their leading assets. Rui Costa and Mário Branco recently voiced confidence in a renewal, adding that the next step rests with the player.
Benfica have tabled an improved offer, approaching the two million euros net per season António Silva is seeking. Beyond salary, the sporting project and his status under Marco Silva are central to talks.
