Bernardo Silva is not planning an immediate return to Benfica, The Sun reports, a setback for supporters hoping for a swift homecoming.
The Manchester City midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and will be free to decide his next move. Agent Jorge Mendes has said it is still too early to address that topic.
Uncertainty remains, but staying in Europe’s elite appears to be the player’s priority for now.
Silva made only three senior appearances for Benfica. He made his debut on 19 October 2013 at Cinfães under Jorge Jesus, replacing Filip Djuricic on 80 minutes in a 1-0 win sealed by Ola John in the 52nd minute.
This season for City, he has played 26 matches, 20 in the Premier League, five in the Champions League and one in the League Cup. Across 1,808 minutes, he has one goal and two assists. He is valued at 27 million euros.
