According to Kicker, no centre-back was rated world class in its latest rankings assessing the second half of the 2025/26 season, with Dayot Upamecano heading the international class.

The international class features, in order, Dayot Upamecano of Bayern, Matthias Ginter of Freiburg, Jonathan Tah of Bayern, Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen, Nico Schlotterbeck of Borussia Dortmund, Jeff Chabot of Stuttgart and Luka Vuskovic, listed with Hamburger SV and now at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The national class begins with places eight to 12: Nico Elvedi of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Waldemar Anton of Borussia Dortmund, Nicolas Capaldo of Hamburger SV, Albian Hajdari of Hoffenheim and Ozan Kabak of Hoffenheim.

Ramy Bensebaini of Borussia Dortmund is at 13, followed by Finn Jeltsch of Stuttgart, Kim min-Jae of Bayern, Patrick Mainka of Heidenheim and Jarell Quansah of Bayer Leverkusen completing the list at 17.

The rankings are split by position and graded by performance level, and this is the first part of the summer lists.
