Bianconeri fall to narrow defeat against Lazio | OneFootball

The Juventus Men’s First Team fell to a 1-0 defeat against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Serie A Matchday 8, with Toma Basic’s early goal proving decisive.

The match started at a frenetic pace, and just nine minutes in, Basic scored from outside the box to give Lazio the lead. The Bianconeri saw plenty of the ball, and created a big chance when Chico Conceicao’s cross found Andrea Cambiaso at the back post, but he could only find the side netting.

Despite the control that Juventus seemed to have over the tempo of the game, Lazio looked dangerous and Matteo Guendouzi had a good shot that needed to be blocked. Ten minutes before the end of the first half, Teun Koopmeiners came up with a great pass for Jonathan David, who attempted a lob, but Ivan Provedel closed him down. Five minutes later, Dusan Vlahovic failed to find the target after being set up in the penalty area by Conceicao.

Coach Igor Tudor made a change at half-time, bringing on Kenan Yildiz to increase the technical quality in attack. In the opening seconds of the second half, Manuel Locatelli tried to trouble Provedel from distance, but the goalkeeper was up to the task. Mattia Perin handled two Biancocelesti attempts from Basic and Boulaye Dia, the first with a header from a set piece, and the second with a left-footed shot after a solo run.

Juventus' final push produced the biggest chances. In the 72nd minute, Pierre Kalulu found Yildiz, who stretched for an acrobatic shot but failed to get any power behind it. Three minutes later, Khephren Thuram headed a cross from a corner kick towards goal, forcing Provedel into a spectacular save. Thuram had the last chance of the game with another header, but it was saved again.
