Blackburn have confirmed that the decision to take the lower allocation of tickets at Wolves was down to the home team.

Blackburn will be backed by over 2,000 fans at Molineux on August 14 when they face Wolves in the opener of the Championship season.

It has been a busy summer for Rovers, with Tony Mowbray returning to the club as he looks to build on their impressive survival under Michael O’Neill in the previous campaign.

However, it has been a frustrating window in the minds of most fans so far, as they are concerned by the lack of incomings.

Of course, there is still time left for that to change, and Mowbray’s squad will no doubt look different when the deadline has passed.

Blackburn send clarity on Wolves away ticket allocation

With the pre-season games out of the way, all attention is now on the new season, and even though it starts for Blackburn with a game at Burton in the League Cup, the primary focus is likely to be the Championship opener against Wolves.

The Black Country outfit will start the season as one of the favourites for the title, so it couldn’t be a much tougher start for Mowbray’s men.

Despite that, Blackburn have announced on social media that they have sold out their allocation of 2,020 tickets for the game, which is very impressive considering the fixture is still ten days away.

Yet, it also brought questions as to why Blackburn weren’t handed the bigger allocation, which would be closer to 3,000, located in the Steve Bull Lower.

Instead, Rovers fans will be put behind the goal in the North Bank, and whilst they will still be able to create noise, it appears many fans have missed out on a ticket.

But, Blackburn’s social media account sent an update on the situation, as they said the decision to give the lower allocation was down to Wolves.

“For clarity, the allocation of 2,020 made available to Rovers for this fixture was the full allocation offered to us by Wolverhampton Wanderers. Allocation sizes can vary between fixtures and between clubs due to operational and safety arrangements agreed by the host club and relevant authorities.”

This is an interesting development, as it was unusual for Blackburn to be allocated the smaller section of the ground, as they were always going to shift a lot of tickets on the opening day.

But, it has been decided, and with Wolves selling home tickets in all other areas of the stadium, there’s no chance of it changing now.

So, that’s a shame for the Blackburn fans that have missed out, but it’s still a good travelling number that will be making the trip, and it promises to be an exciting night.
