Blackburn Rovers' activity in the off-season and early weeks of the current campaign generated plenty of intrigue as the club looks to progress forward despite continued unrest and uncertainty at Ewood Park.

The East Lancashire side have now spent 13 consecutive years in the EFL - either at Championship or League One level - following their relegation from the Premier League in the 2011/12 campaign, and have rarely shown any signs of ending such a lengthy hiatus.

This has come with a backdrop of frustration and disillusionment from sections of the Rovers fanbase towards ownership group, The Venky's, who have overseen a mixed tenure of performances when it comes to league position on top of a lack of investment in the club over said timeframe.

Despite ending last season in strong form, winning four and drawing one of the final five games and narrowly missing out on a first play-off berth since returning to the second-tier, there isn't much hope from supporters that Blackburn will be challenging for the top six in Valerien Ismael's first full season at the club after he took the reins in February following John Eustace's exit to Derby County.

Triple Blackburn Rovers concern raised involving The Venky's and Rudy Gestede

Football League World posed the question to our Blackburn Rovers fan pundit, Simon Middlehurst, as to what his major concerns involving the club are at this moment in time.

Middlehurst then responded with three major issues which are giving him major doubts over Rovers' short and long-term aim, with the majority of said circumstances falling back to those in the boardroom, including Head of Football Operations and former striker, Rudy Gestede.

"The biggest concern with the club right now, on the pitch, is the lack of Championship experience that we have at the minute," Middlehurst explained.

"Most of the signings were, very much, from abroad and, obviously, unproven at the level as well, so that's a massive concern.

"Off the pitch, it will always be the Venky's, who are still running the club, and Rudy Gestede - Head of Football Operations.

"I don't think he's the right person in charge of the club," Middlehurst claimed.

"He's very much all about himself, comes across as very selfish, and he's using Blackburn as a stepping stone to further his career in my opinion.

Blackburn Rovers supporter frustrations have been evident with poor Championship start

There has been a flurry of incomings and outgoings at Ewood Park this summer.

However, it remains to be seen how many of the signings which Ismael has made will bed in to the rigours of the Championship as soon as possible, with second-tier experience only added through the acquisitions of Sean McLoughlin and Taylor Gardner-Hickman.

Lewis Travis' well-documented exit to Derby only caused further frustration for those connected to the club, whilst anger towards those in the boardroom has shown no signs of slowing down.

The Venky's acquired the club for £23m back in November 2010, but mismanagement has led to Rovers being rather cash-strapped and forced to sell prized assets such as Adam Wharton and Sammie Szmodics in recent years in order to balance the books.

The owners have shown no desire to sell the club in recent years either, whilst an ongoing court battle with the Indian Ministry of Finance has been delayed for the seventh time since January, with the latest hearing set to take place in November.

Meanwhile Gestede, who previously scored 35 times in 72 appearances for the club, is tarnishing his prior legacy with supporters, such as our fan pundit, especially after comments in defence of The Venky's
