Blackburn Rovers midfielder Sondre Tronstad will miss the rest of the season, boosting West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City's survival chances
Blackburn Rovers, West Bromwich Albion, and Leicester City are all locked in the battle to avoid relegation from the Championship this season.
Blackburn and Leicester recently appointed Michael O'Neill and Gary Rowett, respectively, to try and help stave off the threat of the drop to League One, while James Morrison is set to take interim charge of West Brom until the end of the campaign.
Rovers initially started well under O'Neill, earning successive wins over Queens Park Rangers and rivals Preston North End, but they have subsequently lost to both Bristol City and Derby County.
Meanwhile, West Brom have still failed to win since the turn of the year, having sacked both Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay, whereas the Foxes haven't tasted victory since beating the Baggies on 5 January.

Leicester currently sit in the relegation zone on 34 points, having suffered a six-point deduction, while Blackburn and West Brom occupy the two spots just above the Foxes.
Rovers host Rowett's men on the last day of the Championship season, which already looks like it could be the difference between relegation and survival.
Blackburn also lock horns with the Baggies on Easter Monday, which could be equally pivotal.
Meanwhile, as reported by BBC Sport, Rovers midfielder Sondre Tronstad will miss the rest of the season after enduring a full ACL reconstruction.
The Lancashire club's official statement said: "Tronstad, who has started 28 of Rovers’ 35 Championship fixtures this season, now begins a lengthy recovery period and will have the full support of the club’s medical department throughout his rehabilitation journey.
"Everyone at the club wishes Sonny a full and speedy recovery."
The 30-year-old, who is in his third season at Ewood Park, has notched two assists this term, both of which came in their 3-1 win over QPR last month.

The news that Tronstad, who is a key figure for Rovers, is a boost for West Brom and Leicester's respective chances of Championship survival, and could drag the Lancashire side to League One.
Tronstad has been a reliable asset for the Ewood Park club once again this season, consistently proving both his quality in possession and his tenacity off the ball.
The Norway international made 38 second-tier appearances when Blackburn narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season, and was also a regular feature during their 2023/24 survival effort.
However, Rovers will have to avoid the drop to League One without the former Vitesse man's services this time around, thanks to his significant injury setback.
Tronstad's contract expires this summer, meaning he could have played his last-ever Blackburn game without knowing it when O'Neill's men faced Bristol City last month.
When the Lancashire outfit signed the midfielder on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, the Lancashire outfit's announcement noted his technical ability and passing range, which he has demonstrated in the Championship over the course of his Rovers career.
