Blackburn are set to open talks with Balazs Toth over a new deal, but will consider moving him on if an agreement can't be reached this summer.
Blackburn Rovers will be looking for improvement in next year's league campaign, after what has been a frustrating year for the Lancashire-based side.
Rovers finished 20th in the Championship table, and were beaten 1-0 by already-relegated Leicester City on the final day of the 2025/26 season, which will have been an irritating way to finish the season for the Ewood Park faithful.
It's been a testing few years for Blackburn, and so they're set for an interesting summer transfer window ahead, as they look to build a squad capable of challenging higher up the second-tier standings moving forward.
Michael O'Neill will be looking to strengthen his coaching team after securing the club's Championship status for another year, and the Rovers boss will know that reinforcements are required.
There have been some players to catch the eye this term though, and Blackburn will be keen to retain their services heading into next year's campaign.

Balazs Toth has emerged as Blackburn first-choice goalkeeper this season, and there will be questions on his future amongst the Ewood Park faithful.
The 28-year-old has been with the club since 2024, having previously been on the books with Hungarian side, Videoton FC Fehérvár. Toth has gone on to make 35 appearances in total for Rovers, and has kept nine clean sheets in that time.
He has one year remaining on his contract with Blackburn, and journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Blackburn are set to open contract talks with the goalkeeper over a healthy pay rise.
However, it's also claimed by Nixon that if a fresh agreement can't be reached, Blackburn will look to sell the shot-stopper, amid interest from other clubs.
Hungarian media outlet Csakfoci have recently reported that Everton are one of the teams interested in a deal to sign Toth, which would likely mean that the Toffees are keen to add a second-choice goalkeeper to their ranks.
Jordan Pickford is David Moyes' number one choice between the posts at Everton, and it seems a tough ask for Toth to be able to dislodge him from that position anytime soon.
Blackburn are keen not to lose the goalkeeper for nothing when his contract expires in the summer of 2027 though, and so they're weighing up cashing in on him whilst they can, but only if Toth doesn't sign a new deal with the club.

Blackburn, like any club, won't want to lose their key players, but sensible decisions have to be made during the transfer window, as it would be a waste if they were to lose him on a free transfer when his contract reaches a conclusion at the end of next year's league campaign.
He's a player that has impressed this season, and certainly warrants a new contract. Therefore, it's pleasing to hear that Blackburn are looking to offer Toth a new deal in advance before his contract nears expiring.
Toth could have his eye set on a move elsewhere though, especially if he can continue to impress in the Championship with Rovers. At the age of 28, he might feel as though this is the best time for him to potentially move higher up the football pyramid, and so it'll be interesting to see Toth's stance heading into the summer transfer window.
