Andre Brooks’ time at Sheffield United has come to an end after Norwich City agreed a substantial undisclosed fee to bring the academy graduate to Carrow Road.

For Blades supporters, it marks the end of a story that has been years in the making. A proud Sheffielder who joined United’s academy at just eight years old, Brooks worked his way through every level of the club’s renowned youth system before fulfilling a childhood dream by representing his hometown club in the first team.

His senior debut came in November 2022 against Burnley, a milestone that was richly deserved after years of development at the Shirecliffe Academy. Brooks quickly established himself as one of the club’s brightest young prospects and became an increasingly important member of the squad.

The winger featured 20 times during Sheffield United’s 2023/24 Premier League campaign, gaining valuable top-flight experience despite a difficult season for the Blades. Rather than allowing relegation to halt his progress, Brooks continued to develop and became a key player as United mounted their push for an immediate return to the Premier League.

The 2024/25 season proved to be a breakthrough campaign, with Brooks playing a significant role as Chris Wilder’s side reached the Championship play-off final. His pace, direct running and willingness to work tirelessly off the ball made him an important outlet throughout the season, while his versatility allowed him to operate in several attacking roles.

Last season saw Brooks continue his upward trajectory. He scored six goals in 41 appearances across all competitions, producing arguably the most productive season of his young career. His performances did not go unnoticed internationally either, earning his first senior caps for Jamaica in March 2026 and taking another significant step in his development.

Andre Brooks First Words After Departing Sheffield United

Now, that progress has earned him a move to Norwich City, where he believes he is ready for the next chapter.

Speaking to Norwich’s club media following the completion of the transfer, Brooks said: “I’m absolutely ready for the challenge ahead. Speaking to the gaffer and all of the staff, their ambitions and goals for the season really appealed to me.

“As a winger, I think the head coach will want me to play on both sides, attack and defend, and I feel like I’m the perfect man for that. I’m just going to try and help him and the team as much as I can.”

While Norwich supporters will undoubtedly be excited by the arrival of one of the Championship’s emerging talents, Sheffield United fans will be left wondering what might have been.

Blades Dynamic Duo Broken Up

Perhaps the biggest casualty of Brooks’ departure is the dismantling of one of the club’s most exciting homegrown partnerships. Alongside right-back Femi Seriki, Brooks had developed an understanding that simply could not be coached.

The pair had grown up together within Sheffield United’s academy, progressing through age-group football side by side before eventually finding themselves sharing the right flank in the first team. Years of familiarity translated seamlessly onto the pitch, with Seriki’s overlapping runs perfectly complementing Brooks’ willingness to cut inside or stretch defences down the wing.

Their chemistry became one of United’s most dangerous attacking weapons. Opposition full-backs regularly found themselves overloaded as the duo combined with speed, movement and an instinctive understanding of each other’s game that only years of playing together can create.

For the Blades, attention now turns towards replacing not only Brooks’ attacking output but also the unique balance he provided alongside Seriki. Finding another winger with the same work rate, versatility and understanding of United’s style will not be straightforward.
