Boca were beaten 1-0 by Barcelona SC in Guayaquil on matchday four of the Copa Libertadores group stage, a second straight away defeat, yet their route to the last 16 remains open.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, in Group D Universidad Católica, Boca and Cruzeiro are level on six points, with the Chileans currently top under the Olympic tie-breaker used in this edition. Barcelona SC sit on three.

Boca's fixture list now tilts in their favour, having already played three of their four matches away. The final two group games are at La Bombonera, and if Claudio Úbeda's side win both they will be in the last 16.

Beating Cruzeiro and Universidad Católica at home would take them to 12 points, guaranteeing progress and giving them a strong chance of finishing first.

A win and a draw would make 10 points, a tally that could suffice but would leave qualification dependent on the Católica v Cruzeiro result from this round and on their meetings with Barcelona.

The best outcome for Boca from the pending Católica v Cruzeiro clash is a draw. That would move both to seven, one ahead of Boca, forcing them to find points in Argentina and allowing Boca to overtake them by winning at home. The slip in Ecuador narrows the margin, but the ticket remains in their hands.
