Boca could gain another transfer window extension in the coming hours if they loan a player abroad, with the market already lengthened by Rodrigo Battaglia’s Achilles surgery.
With Juan Román Riquelme and Marcelo Delgado leading, the midfielder underwent an operation for chronic insertional tendinopathy in his right Achilles and will miss the rest of this semester and the start of the next. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Boca can sign a replacement for Battaglia until 18 February.
Separately, Libertad de Paraguay have opened talks to take Agustín Martegani. The midfielder is not in Claudio Úbeda’s plans and has not played for a long time.
Libertad are seeking a one-year loan, which would give Boca until 10 March to add another player. That is because the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino allows clubs that sell or loan a footballer abroad to replace him.
Meanwhile, Estudiantes are not expected to accept Boca’s revised terms for Edwuin Cetré after private medical studies indicated a knee problem, so Boca are unwilling to pay their original offer. Boca now prefer a loan with an option to buy, but Estudiantes want immediate funds to ease their finances.
Paranaense have reportedly renewed their interest in Cetré, having previously withdrawn after a medical.
