Boca sit alone at the top of Copa Libertadores Group D. Universidad Católica stunned Cruzeiro 2-1 in Brazil, a late winner denying the hosts a point.
LaNumer12.com.ar reports on the Group D picture after matchday two. Boca had thrashed Barcelona SC of Ecuador 3-0 the previous night to take control, then Jimmy Martínez struck near the end in Belo Horizonte to seal Católica’s win.
Claudio Úbeda’s side have six points and a goal difference of +4 after winning both matches. Católica are second on three with a neutral goal difference, Cruzeiro also have three and are third, while Barcelona SC have zero after two defeats.
Boca cannot secure qualification on the next matchday. A win would leave them close, but confirmation would have to wait.
Next up, Boca visit Cruzeiro at the Mineirao on Tuesday 24 April at 21:30 Argentina time. Barcelona host Universidad Católica on Wednesday 25 April at 21:00 Argentina time.
