L'Équipe reports that Bodø/Glimt, based beyond the Arctic Circle, are in the Champions League last 16. They have just knocked out last season’s Champions League finalists Inter Milan, 3-1 and 2-1.

Nine months earlier, they had reached the Europa League semi-finals to face Tottenham, a tie that finished 1-3 and 0-2.

We visited in late April 2025, with colours dancing in the sky, sunlight shimmering on the Norwegian Sea and snow still dusting the tops of pines. The temperature sat near zero and the wind stung the cheeks.

In Bodø, pronounced “Bou-deu”, Aspmyra Stadion welcomes supporters who wrap up against the glacial cold. The town, high in northern Norway beyond the fjords and the polar circle, has around 50,000 inhabitants clustered on a hillside.

A distinctive club in a remote natural setting, far beyond the Arctic Circle.
